Auto Refraction

A computer analysis of your eyesight helps you take the "guess" out of determining your prescription easily--this is called 'auto-refraction.' You will be more relaxed and may even find it fun! Your children will love it!

'Wavefront' Corneal mapping topography

Not just corneal topography, but 'wavefront' topography. 'Wavefront' analyzes the true abberations of your eye's front surface in how you 'see,' helping us identify and correct symptoms, such as, 'halos' around lights at night. This is also used in contact lens fitting for corneal refractive therapy, post-LASIK, RK or Keratoconus treatment.

Using this technology can give you 'high definition' like vision!

.

These are maps of the eye's front surface showing how refractive
therapy normalizes vision without surgery. Notice the uniform blue
area in the right picture, this shows a smoothing of the surface
correcting vision.

OptoMap® Retinal Exams
...NO DILATION DROPS!

This scans the inside of your eyes to help us
identify or monitor suspicous retinal activity. For instance, the optic nerve, a part of your eye that sends the signals for vision, could become damaged. The OptoMap® Retinal Scan images this and other parts of your eyes vital to your eye health. These pictures are archived to look for unhealthy trends as you come for annual exams.

This OptoMap image shows a healthy retina. Center of picture is called the
Macula, the Optic Nerve is just to the right with blood vessels coming out in
differing directions to nourish peripheral parts of retina.
See your retina at exam time!

(Some situations may require a dilated eye exam under certain circumstances)

Eye Pressure Testing
Glaucoma is a blinding eye disease. As part of your routine exam, our office uses a patient friendly digital 'tonopen' that gently measures the eye pressure--better than the 'air puff'. GDx VCC technology , approved in 2002, uses 'scanning polarimetry' to help us tell years in advance of your risk for developing Glaucoma. We want to catch it as early as possible, treat it, and protect your eyesight.

Retinometry technology
Vision still blurry with eyeglasses? The Retinometer
was developed by HEINE in Germany, that helps us determine which part of your eye has a problem. The cause may not be with your eyeglasses. It may be a decrease in retinal sensitivity.

Ultrasound Corneal Pachymetry
This technology measures the thickness of your cornea. This is a test used in LASIK exams, and it tells us if your cornea is thinning. Other uses are for Keratoconus and to help diagnose Glaucoma among other things.
