Corneal Refractive
Therapy
What
is Refractive Therapy?
Corneal
Refractive Therapy (CRT), sometimes called Vision Shaping Treatment (VST)
or Corneal Molding (CM), were approved by the FDA in 2002. Special contacts
are designed and fitted to naturally change the shape of the eye's surface
(cornea) to temporarily correct vision while sleeping. Remove them after
sleeping and
see without daytime correction. Many people are able to skip a night of
wear and still have acceptable vision!
Refractive
Therapy is effective
The
Kurtin Eye Center's Refractive Therapy program uses FDA approved designs
that result in safe, effective treatment. Thousands of people have been
fit and found to cause no problems with proper use and care. It can be
used for people with drier eyes or those been unable to wear contact
lenses in the past!
FYI: Doctors
must have advanced training and certification for Refractive Therapy..
The Kurtin Eye Center uses only F.D.A. approved lenses.
Some
doctors use non-FDA approved lenses
without F.D. A. research due to cost.
Great
for children 7 years old and up!
Refractive Therapy is great for children, teens or adults who find eyeglasses unattractive, contact lenses a hassle, or active people who love to play. National Eye Institute studies show it may help slow vision changes as children grow. It's also a perfect alternative for people who want LASIK, but nervous about surgery!
FYI: Refractive Therapy is
approved for prescriptions up to -6.00 with astigmatism and for people needing
bifocals!
Affordable
Initial Refractive Therapy fees, including, exam,
follow up care, a Refractive Therapy lens pair,
topography and
instructions on use, range from $599 to $899 per eye. Once you are in the program,
the initial fees no longer apply. You
may qualify for The Kurtin Eye Center's 0 % interest
financing for up to 18 months. Of course, flex-spend accounts
can be used. Some vision insurances may provide allowances too.
FYI: A basic eye exam is all you need to see if you are a candidate at The Kurtin Eye Center
Already doing Refractive Therapy?
Periodic exams with trending lens evaluations are advised to keep you up to
date in your care. No problem if you've been fit elsewhere, just bring your
